On Wednesday the 25th of April 2018, Professor Dan Segal (University of Oxford) will be visiting the University of Lincoln and giving a seminar on groups of finite upper rank, at 3pm in INB 3305. His abstract is as follows: “The upper rank of a group is the supremum of the Prüfer ranks of its finite quotient groups. The upper p-rank, for a prime p, is defined analogously, using the Sylow p-subgroups of finite quotients. I’ll discuss to what extent the upper rank of a finitely generated group is controlled by its upper p-ranks.” All are welcome.
