Lincoln maths graduate gets a PhD position at the Algebra research group in Univ. of York

Congratulations to our Maths Masters 2023 graduate Jamie Smith with getting a PhD position at the University of York! Jamie made great progress over his four years of mathematics studies in Lincoln, finishing top-of-class in Year 4 Maths Masters studies, for which he was awarded the Boole prize. He was also awarded the “Best Y4 Project” prize, after excelling in the 2nd semester massive quadruple module of Masters research project (title: “Full automorphism groups of finite groups”, supervisor Prof. Evgeny Khukhro). Jamie’ successful application for PhD studies means that in September of 2023 he will start working on his PhD thesis in the area of semigroups at the Algebra group of the University of York, which is one of the leading centres for mathematics research in UK. Well done, Jamie! and best wishes in your further studies and research!
