From 6th to the 9th of December 2023, the Charlotte Scott Centre for Algebra had the pleasure of welcoming Peter Wong (Bates College, Lewiston, Maine, USA) for a research visit. During his stay, he presented his work at our algebra seminar and had several discussions with Lincoln algebraists on questions of mutual interest.
Talk title: Outer Automorphisms, Character Spheres, and Twisted Conjugacy
Abstract: A group G has property R∞ if every automorphism f of G has infinitely many f-twisted conjugacy classes of elements. In this talk, we revisit some of the existing techniques that have been employed to obtain R∞. We illustrate by means of examples how to extend these methods and still prove R∞ results. This is joint work with P. Sankaran.
Please, can you add me to the mailing list of virtual participants for the talk at the Centre?
Best,
