Call for new problems in group theory and September 2025 update of the “Kourovka Notebook”

The preparation of the new 21st edition of the Kourovka Notebook (Unsolved Problems in Group Theory) is underway. New problems can be sent to the editors:

Evgeny Khukhro khukhro@yahoo.co.uk and Victor Mazurov mazurov@math.nsc.ru.

Everybody is welcome to propose new problems. Problems may “belong” to those who propose them, or otherwise. One can indicate the author(s) of the problem if different from the person proposing, or simply that this is a “well-known problem”. In order that the progress can be “measured” and seen, the preference is usually given to concrete questions that admit “yes” or “no” answers.

Meanwhile an update for the current 20th edition of “Kourovka Notebook (Unsolved Problems in Group Theory)” is  posted. A few new solutions and new references appear, both for problems from the latest section and from the previous ones. (But of course many problems remain very much open:-).)

Recall that “Kourovka Notebook” is a famous collection of open problems in group theory proposed by hundreds of mathematicians from all over the world, published every 2-4 years since 1965.

Sponsored by University of Lincoln and Sobolev Institute of Mathematics, Novosibirsk.
