Visit by Dr Phillip Wesolek

Dr Phillip Wesolek (Binghampton Univ., New York) is visiting University of Lincoln as the main part of his UK trip from 12 to 26 February 2017 supported by the London Mathematical Society grant. He will also visit the universities of Leeds and St Andrews. Dr Wesolek has made significant contributions to the theory of totally disconnected locally compact groups, and his work lies at the intersection of geometric group theory, descriptive set theory and topological group theory. In Lincoln Phillip continues collaboration with Dr Simon Smith, as well as discusses possible collaboration with other members of the Algebra group.

On 15 February Phillip gave a talk at the Algebra seminar in Lincoln on The structure of simple totally disconnected locally compact groups via embeddings with dense image.
