On Wednesday the 14th of November 2018, Simon Blackburn (Royal Holloway, University of London) will be visiting the Charlotte Scott Centre for Algebra and giving a seminar on “Cryptography using Group Theory” in INB 3305 at 2.30pm. All are welcome to attend. His abstract is as follows:
“Over the past 20 years, there have been frequent proposals to use group-theoretic techniques in the design of cryptosystems. I will provide a brief introduction to the area, and I will talk about some of the techniques that can be used to attack some of these schemes. I will assume no knowledge of cryptography (and very little group theory is needed).”
