Algebra Seminar by Karthika Rajeev

On Wednesday the 17th of March 2021, Karthika Rajeev (Heinrich-Heine-University of Duesseldorf) will be giving a seminar on her research at 3pm. The details of her talk are as follows:

Title: On the Basilica operation

Abstract: The Basilica operation is a general construction inspired by the classical Basilica group, which yields a new family of Basilica groups from a given subgroup of automorphisms of a rooted tree. I will report on recent joint work with Jan Moritz Petschick, in which we define the Basilica operation and study the properties of groups that are preserved under this operation. At the end of the talk, we shall take a closer look at an explicit family of siblings of the classical Basilica group.
