Algebra Seminar in Lincoln: talk by Alexander Premet

Professor Alexander Premet (The University of Manchester) will speak in the Algebra seminar on Wednesday,  26 October 2016, at 2:00pm (room JBL0C05, JBL Building, which is building 22 on the uni map). He will talk about Maximal subalgebras of exceptional Lie algebras over fields of good characteristic.

Abstract: Let G be an exceptional simple algebraic group defined over an algebraically closed field of characteristic p>0. We assume that p is good for G, that is p>5 if G is of type E_8 and p>3 in all other cases. In my talk, based on recent joint work with David Stewart, I will describe all maximal Lie subalgebras of Lie(G).
