Algebra seminar in Lincoln: talk by George Willis

On Thursday the 19th of April 2018 George Willis (Newcastle, Australia) gave a talk on “Totally disconnected, locally compact groups” at the Lincoln Algebra seminar (see abstract here). Introducing the speaker, Simon Smith said that George Willis’ work revolutionized this important area of algebraic research. Recently a conference on this subject was held in Lincoln, where Simon Smith was one of the speakers, and George Willis’ work was heavily cited. Quite a few questions in this area remain open, many of which are included in the new 19th edition of the “Kourovka Notebook”.
